No wisdom even in teeth

How often do you get annoyed/upset when you hear a rumour about yourself?

Or lose the plot on twitter or face book because someone twists something you have posted?

Imagine someone coming to you and telling you how to do your job, when they have never worked within your industry?

Now try doing all that under the scrutiny of the worlds media.

We tend to forget Rory McIlroy is only 23, 23!!! I have ties older than that!

He is an incredible golfing talent with 2 majors and 2 winning Ryder Cup appearances.

At 23!

I keep saying 23 because we all seem to forget that, he is still a bairn in terms of life.

Is he going through a rough spell of form at the moment? Yes

Did he go through the same slump last year? Yes

I am not a NIKE fan, never have been, never will be, but to blame them for this is silly.

Look at G Mac, did he win more with Callaway? Yes he did. Have people jumped on Srixon and Cleveland? No. Because everyone knows they are quality products.

In my opinion its not the clubs that are the issue with Rory, it’s the ball if anything.

Lets be honest here as regards equipment.

I don’t care if you play off scratch or 28, everyone of us, if being 100% honest, have bought clubs that we have killed on the range.

We spend hours or even days hitting clubs, then bang, we find the ones we love, or think we have.

Range bucket after range bucket we cream every shot, these are the very beasties for us, but then, oh yes then we take them out on the course and bang, system failure. We cant his a cow on the arse with a banjo!

If this has never happened to you then you are a miracle of science!

The range and the course are 2 totally different worlds.

I honestly think Rory has spent too much time fannying about off the course trying to please sponsors and not enough time on it.

All the lad needs to do is play more.

Least we forget how the media wrote him off last year and he shut them up by winning his second major.

I could not live, never mind play golf, under the media pressure he is under.

Has he made mistakes? Yes.

But you think back to when you were 23? Did you live a faultless life?

This is a wee glitch at the moment and he will bounce back on the course.

Later this week we will find out more on the tooth situation and I am sorry to say I think that will be a tougher situation to recover from than the golf.

Many of us have no option but to postpone or put off dental treatment because, frankly, we cant afford it financially, that is not an issue for Rory.

I honestly don’t buy it as an excuse and I honestly think that’s what it was, an excuse.

Go ask any LET or LPGA player what its like to play a 4 day tournament in 80+ degrees during their periods, most men could not even play 18!

Maybe Rory just needs to take his lead from NIKE and just do it!
