RSVP

So you get into the clubhouse after your round, your sat there with the beverage of your choice and think “em wonder what position I finished in?”

So you you start going through the returned scores, if your lack me you look at the leader then go to the bottom of the board and work up.

So leading is a 64, not to shabby so whose last??

Well we have 109, 99, 95, 94, 94, 92 & 91!

Now at this point you would normally be checking their handicap for the net score? Well not on this occasion! Why ? Those 7 scores belong to the bottom 7 in the Kharkov Superior Cup on the European Challenge tour!

SERIOUSLY!!!

A field of 131 with a CSS of 74this defies logic!

A Polish pro, yes apparently a pro, shot 109, that’s 37 over par, THIRTY SEVEN!

Why ?? Well the obvious answer seems to be sponsor invites.

Give the state of European Golf  I get we need event sponsors now more than ever, I get it, I do BUT at what cost.

We all get stinkers of rounds, bad driving days, bad putting days BUT……

For a pro to shoot 37 over, even 35 over using CSS leads to some serious questions.

Imagine you are a young pro, desperately trying to make it to the big show, every cent you make moves you one step closer, 1 step nearer to your dream, that’s not mentioning that the Challenge tour is how you earn your current living!

If you had been first reserve how would you feel about these scores??

Does the European Tour vet these guys ??

Do these “invite” players even have to prove their worth or ability ?

There are far too much stupid invites being issued on every tour, male and female, which are robbing golfers of a their living.
Be it a 13 year old lad from China or a 41 year old from Poland.

Yes we need the sponsors, yes we need to work with sponsors and facilitate their needs, but not at the cost of professionals earning a living? Or trying to earn a living ?
