A wandering minstrel I

This week see’s one of my favourite events of the year, the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open.

Why one of my favourites?

Well its one of my favourite venues in the world, Archerfield. 2 very good courses and quite frankly the best club house in Scotland.

Last year I was lucky enough to play the first 2 days with my personal version of Bette Middler the fabulous Ms Beth Allen.

And as luck would have it I am playing in the pro am again this year.

And when I say luck, I mean luck.

Remember when you were a kid and you would pick playground teams? Football, cowboys & Indians, just whatever and there would always be that kid lurking desperate to get picked, remember?

Well I am that kid!!

If there is such a thing as a Z list I am on it!

But who cares! I don’t !!

I get to play on one of my favourite courses with a girl who will have more golfing talent in her pinky than I will have in my entire body!

So everything is rosy ??  Aye, well, it would not be me unless there was a spanner or two in the works would it!

Dog into Kennels ? Check
Covered at work ? Check
Donna off work ? Check
Accommodation ? BUGGER!!

And I mean BUGGER!

Usually when we go down to Archerfield we book a 2 bedroom apartment in Edinburgh, used the same apartments for years. Given my insomnia and habit of tweeting at 2 or 3 am separate rooms is a must.

Usually the apartment is about £75 a night, this week £120 a night!

The reason for this is the Edinburgh fringe festival is on at the moment so accommodation is going at top dollar.

Even budget hotels are coming in at £75 a night, a 2 bed apartment in Gullane is £150 a night, hotel in North Berwick £180 a night!

You name a search engine I have been on it and on it and on it!!

As a side bar, what I can never understand is you find a hotel on one of these hotel search sites and then phone the hotel chain direct its always cheaper on the search site! Does not compute!

But I digress.

So with less than 24 hours before we leave I have still not booked anything, just love being organised.

I am giving my self a wee 3 hour window and am crossing my fingers that the elusive bargain appears, all very glass half full.

Wonder how much I can buy a VW camper for??
